WinWriters.com Is One of the Top 12 Web Sites Visited by STC Members

In a recent survey, the Society for Technical Communication asked its members which World Wide Web sites they most often visited as part of their job. Among the top 12 Web sites listed was WinWriters.com. Of these sites, WinWriters.com is the only site devoted specifically to supporting technical communication professionals.

The interest in WinWriters.com is a combination of:

• Our Resource Directory, which we keep relevant and up-to-date
• Our surveys on tech com skills and salaries
• Information about our family of international Help conferences
• Editorial features on the latest developments in the user assistance world

Other sites included among the top 12 were Jakob Nielsen’s usability site, the Merriam-Webster Online Language Center, the WebMonkey Web developers resource, the WhatIs IT encyclopedia, and the reference site for Adobe FrameMaker. The balance of the twelve sites consisted of search engines (AltaVista, Google, Yahoo) and major software companies (Microsoft, Macromedia, Adobe).

The top 12 sites and the survey will be highlighted in an upcoming issue of Intercom, the monthly magazine of STC.
